What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help a site remember information about your visit, such as your preferences and login status, to make your next visit easier. We also use similar technologies, including software development kits (SDKs), pixels, local storage and device or advertising identifiers, particularly within our mobile apps. In this policy we refer to all of these as "cookies and similar technologies".
How We Use Them
We use cookies and similar technologies to: (a) keep you signed in across pages and sessions; (b) remember your preferences, such as map settings and saved stations; (c) understand how visitors use the Platform so we can improve it; (d) monitor stability, performance and security; and (e) with your consent, deliver and measure advertising in the free version of the Platform.
Consent for non-essential cookies
Essential cookies are always on because the Platform cannot function without them. Analytics, performance and advertising technologies are non-essential and are only used where you allow them through our cookie banner on the web or your in-app consent prompt and device settings.
Types of Cookies We Use
Essential
Always onRequired for core functionality including authentication, session management and security. These cannot be disabled without affecting your ability to use the Platform.
Functional
OptionalRemember your preferences and settings, such as preferred map layer and language.
Analytics
OptionalHelp us understand how visitors interact with the Platform, for example pages and features used, so we can improve it.
Performance
OptionalMonitor stability, error rates and response times.
Advertising
Optional · consentUsed in the free version to deliver advertising and, where you consent, to personalise and measure ads. Not used in Premium.
Advertising and Personalised Ads
The free version of Plugroo is supported by advertising, including ads served through Google (Google AdSense on the website and Google AdMob in our apps) and other advertising partners. These partners may set cookies or use advertising identifiers to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, and measure ad performance.
Where you consent, advertising may be personalised based on information about your device and your use of the Platform. Without consent, you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalised. Advertising partners handle the data they collect under their own privacy policies, including Google advertising policies.
Premium is ad-free
Plugroo Premium removes advertising and the associated advertising cookies and identifiers.
Cookies and SDKs in Our Mobile Apps
Our apps use SDKs and similar tools that support core functionality, enhance your experience, and, with consent, enable analytics and advertising. These may collect device identifiers, interaction data and performance metrics. You are asked for your tracking preference when you first launch the app, including the iOS App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt, and you can change it at any time in your device settings. The main tools we use are:
| Tool | Provider | Category | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Maps SDK | Essential | Interactive maps and location-based features. | |
| Firebase | Essential | App configuration, crash reporting and performance monitoring. | |
| App Store / Play Billing | Apple / Google | Essential | Manage Premium subscriptions and in-app purchases. |
| Firebase Analytics | Analytics | Understand feature usage and improve the app (with consent). | |
| Google AdMob | Advertising | Serve and measure advertising in the free app (with consent for personalisation). |
The specific tools may change as our apps evolve; we will keep this list up to date.
Third-Party Cookies
Some features rely on third-party services that may set their own cookies, including Google Maps for maps and location features; authentication providers (Google or Apple) if you sign in with them; and Google advertising and analytics in the free version. We do not control third-party cookies and recommend reviewing the relevant providers' privacy policies.
Managing Your Preferences
You can manage cookies and tracking in several ways:
On our website
use our cookie banner to allow, customise or reject non-essential cookies at any time.
In our apps
respond to the consent prompt on first launch, including the iOS ATT prompt, and change your choice later in your device settings.
In your browser
most browsers let you view, block or delete cookies. See the help pages for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge.
For advertising
opt out of personalised ads via Google Ad Settings and Your Online Choices (Australia).
Blocking essential cookies will stop core features, including login, from working. Blocking analytics or advertising cookies will not prevent you from using the Platform.
Cookie Retention
Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain for a set period and reactivate on each visit. Authentication cookies typically persist for up to 30 days; analytics cookies may persist for up to 12 months. You can delete cookies at any time through your browser settings, or reset advertising identifiers in your device settings.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookies Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the Last updated date above. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
